His mom looks the other way.

Let’s try that again.
Scene One – Take Three
Jimmy walks into a store with his mom.
“Hey Mom, could I please have a Snickers bar?”
“Sure, I’d love to give you a Snickers bar.” / “No, honey you’re allergic to peanuts.”
“Okay.”
“Here’s the Snickers bar.” / “Don’t worry, here’s something even better for you.”
“Thanks Mom!”
Okay, how was that? Great? Great.
The Gift of Getting a Gift
When we take something,
for ourselves,
by our own will and action,
apart from God,
because we think we need it,
instead of asking God for it,
and trusting that He’ll give it to us,
if it’s good for us,
and if it isn’t,
that He’ll give us something better for us,
then,
we not only deprive God of the pleasure of giving us a good gift,
we also deprive ourselves of the gift of getting a gift from God.
